Instrumental line-up of the MonaLisa-Version

For us "Ain't no sunshine" always was a great song and we like it's feeling. Daddy asked us if we wouldn't like to play it for the concert, so we said yes.

Our interpretation of the song is a very unconventional one, and that's what it should be J. We tried to create some kind of bar atmosphere. For all of you who don't know our version yet or don't remember it anymore (> for a brush-up klick on the Play-symbol above!): At the beginning each one of us plays seemingly "something" as it would only be a spontaneous session without an exact plan.

After a while the bass line comes out, the saxophone is playing some silent tones, the keyboard sets in and then the rest. Only then the song, as we know it, starts. As there are no wind instruments in the original song, our Daddy composed a wonderful sax solo for Michaela.

At the point where everybody thinks the song would be over now, we suddenly play faster. After the "I know"-choir it really gets wild, Daddy plays a totally hot keyboard solo which then develops to Mona's gigantic drum solo. Then everything stops all at once ... In the same slow tempo like at the beginning we repeat the verses of the song. But this time it has more tenseness as one can hear in the second saxophone solo.

In total our Ain't no sunshine version is over 9 minutes long. At our live concert we played it as the last song (before the encore). We always find our version very funny and exciting to play. Many listeners mentioned our special version of the song. They said they would have never heard the song like that. However we like to play it from time to time because Bill Withers' Ain't no sunshine is a real classic!
