Erich Pochendorfer

Erich Pochendorfer in our music class of Polgar Highschool.

Erich Pochendorfer is our guitar teacher at Polgar Highschool/Vienna. He has studied at the Viennese Academy of Music and the Viennese Conservatory. Besides tutoring he is busy with many other things, e. g. composing music for movies, theatre or CD-productions. And he also plays together with many bands and ensembles.

In 2005/2006 he created and supervised the project "Do it, make your own music!", in cooperation with our drum teacher Klaus Goehr. Together with their music teachers the pupils of all drum and guitar classes were allowed to compose some songs, to record and to video tape them! Then the final product, a DVD, was presented to all parents, teachers and students as well as to the principal of Polgarstreet Junior High and the Viennese Schools' Inspector, also including live performing in the assembly hall.

Dear Mr. Pochendorfer,

We also owe very much to you! What you already have done for us and the other pupils! Every year you organize our school's Christmas Concert - not only the performances but also the audio engineering. Sometimes you do an extra Guitar Concert where all guitar students of all teachers can perform. Last time you did that all alone. As if this wasn't enough already you have produced the DVD "Do it, make your own music!" with us. That was real fun! You must have been busy for weeks with recording and cutting all these video and audio material. There are not many teachers like you who do a great deal for "their kids". We are really lucky! But we also are thankful for the not so funny music theory stuff. We know that we need that as well if we want to make good music. Please continue with your work for a long time!
