Everything that is to say about MonaLisa you will find on this website.

Huj … Alone, that's our first own song! So let's start with it's "history of origins" (narrated by Lisa) J:

Mona Wagner and Lisa Wagner
The composers: Lisa left and Mona right

It was at the beginning of 2007 when I suddenly had those chords. They were here, just by accident, and Mona and I were very enthusiastic about them. We didn't intend to write a song at all. It rather happened. So I was there with these great chords and that was it, I thought! Many people one day find some nice chords they like. But then there happened something unexpected!

"Mona, come here! Mona !!!!!" I called my sister. She ran into my room and found me lying on my bed with a sheet of paper in front of my face. I just was writing, scribbling, crossing out, correcting and rewriting. "That's a songtext!" I explained her. And then I played aloud how I imagined the chords I had shown her the day before. She was quite impressed.

Every now and then we played the song, but without the purpose to let it become a genuine song or without thinking about an exact musical arrangement. We just played the chords on our guitars and sang in two voices which we found would match well. Our parents were so touched by the song that they suggested to perform the song at our concert. We were very proud but also a bit embarrassed J.

Since we were so busy with studying and rehearsing all the other songs we didn't care about Alone for quite a while. Our Daddy had a look at the text: He made it a little more "english" and corrected the verses so that they would perfectly fit in the rhythm of the music.

Only three weeks prior to the concert we played it for our Dad as he wanted to know how well we could play it already. We all found that Alone was very beautiful but was missing some pep. The rhythm still was stuttering and the 2nd voice didn't match so well with the chords. So Daddy composed a better 2nd voice and gave us some advice for a smoother rhythm.

In the end Mona did some finishing for the special touch of the song. The fine, plucked guitar sounds in the instrumental part (she herself composed the melody) and the drumming of her fingers on the guitar body gave the song that certain indefinable something. At our two concerts we performed Alone as the second encore. The audience was so enthusiastic that it applauded for a thrid one.

Apropos: Some people asked us if we wrote the lyrics of this song for a certain reason (as they are basically sad). The answer is "No". At that point of time there wasn't even happening something doleful in our environment. I only found that the melody had something gloomy and so I just started to write ...
