MonaLisa News > Final Concert
2008 of Orth/Donau Music School "Little Dining Serenade"-Bon appétit!
Friday, 06 June 2008
Our last gig took place last friday - at the National Park Mansion of Orth an der Donau (River Danube). Our Orth Music School invited to their annual final concert, since this wonderful school year will be over soon and holidays will begin. (There should resonate no sarcasm or even relief in this sentence!) It goes
without saying that Lisa and I participated, but also the pop ensemble,
the brass ensemble, the kindergarden music groups and others showed
their tidbits. All kids played very well and also the selection of the
performed pieces was a very nice one!
For
us it was clear from the beginning that we would perform our "Little
Dining Serenade". Very likely you'll remember that we've presented
this percussion ensemble piece at the
"Prima la Musica" Music Contest
in March 2008 and have achieved a 2nd price with "good success".
Therefore we were able to play it very well yet, and we didn't need to
slide-in many extra rehearsals. With the school stress of the last weeks
this wouldn't have been possible anyway *wheeze*. So prior to the
concert we'd met again and rehearsed together one more time. The title "Little Dining Serenade" is named after Mozart's "Little Evening Serenade", and we were the "4 Head Chef Drummers", using cooking spoons instead of drum sticks. By the way, this piece has the advantage that we can eat during the performance, right in front of the audience. On the video you can see how we both, Thomas Fuchs (called: Fox) and Christoph Wagnes (called: Chrisi) have "arranged" that. Unlike at the music competition, this time we played on a stage that hid a big hollow under it. That and the reverberating acoustic of the mansion's ballroom helped a lot for a full sound. Our jumping and stomping sounded much better than at the competition. Believe us, music is a lot of fun if you yourself are enthusiastic about it! The performance passed off perfectly and the audience really liked it, judging by their applause and howling. Our Dad video taped our performance so you can now watch it at the "home cinema". Bye-bye, Mona and Lisa
