Advent Concert 2007 at Orth

Saturday, 22 December 2007

Our drum teacher of Orth an der Donau Music School, Michael Draskovits, also directs the brass music orchestra of Orth an der Donau (River Danube) in Lower Austria. At the beginning of December he asked us if we wouldn't like to perform together with the brass music. They wanted to play a song that also had vocal parts in its original version. So Michael asked us to sing these parts. The song's name was You raise me up and we both liked it. Therefore we decided to study and practice two voices.

The brass concert took place in the church of Orth an der Donau. Thank God there was a seat heating in there, otherwise we now would be "Oetzis" (an Austrian word for a primeval male skeleton found in the ice)

Our performance passed off nearly without mistakes. In the middle of the concert there was a little conferment of medals and certificates and at the end the moderator and we got a little Thank you-Christmas-present.

Subsequent to the concert we helped the musicians to pack their instruments. We instantly opened our present and tried some of the chocolat pieces. Afterwards we all were invited to the "Binder" restaurant, a very good fish restaurant at Orth. We celebrated the successful concert and let the evening die away comfortably.
