MonaLisa & Band in
"City & Life"!
Monday, 9 June 2008
Hey, Hey!
It's
so exciting! This minute the new issue of the youth magazine "City &
Life" landed in our postbox!
 |
|
That's the cover of the June 2008 magazine.
Click on the pic and you'll get the PDF on the "City & Life" website
where you can watch our article (but sorry, guys, it's a German
Website). |
Now you probably wonder what the whole excitement's all about.
But in
the new issue...
... Attention, hold on tight! ... WE ... damdamdamdam ... HAVE
... damdamdam ... A ... DOUBLE PAGE
ARTICLE IN THIS NUMBER!!!
WOOOOW YEAH!!
How we have come to that? Puh, wait a moment ... OK, I'll tell you now:
In the 8th grade every high school demands so called "job practical days".
Each student of our class had to find a company where he could "snoop
around", help a bit and look over the adult's shoulder for a few days. In
school they call it "Get-to-know-the-grown-up's-life".
Our four snuffle-days were slated for the week before the semester
break 2008. I (Mona) selected a (newspaper) desk. Our aunt
namely works in the Viennese city hall where she has much to do with "Wien.at"
(means "www.Vienna.at" - see pink logo on the magazine). That's why she offered
me to
spend my job practical days in a desk where several teenage magazines
get produced. Of course I was absolutely delighted with this
suggestion.
"Wien.at" is a company by the city government of Vienna that
produces, among other things, telecasts, leisure-guidance as well as
magazines for kiddies, teens, seniors, animal lovers, ... These journals
get released by the "Bohmann" Publisher which has a separate desk in Leberstraße (Liverstreet) in
the south-east of Vienna. That was exactly were I pilgrimed during my job practical days (which is not
just round the corner from our town ;)
I basically helped, assisted and observed the making of the
youth magazine "City & Life". A lot of journals get printed in the
desk but in this one I was interested most.
During my work there I met many nice people, and now and then I told them
about our band, our music and our Live-CD. Silvia, one of the editors, got
curios about it and said that in the next issue of "City & Life" there
would have to be
a story about our band.
Well, the job days passed by an the weeks went over. We didn't take this
offer too serious. Until one day we received an e-mail from Silvia ...
The next issue of "City & Life" was to be created and Silvia asked for a
photo shooting- and interview date for a double-sided article in that
magazine ... WOW - she hadn't forgotten it!
 |
|
Totally in line with us: Photographer Andrew and
"City & Life" editor Silvia. |
That was grandiose! We were completely beside ourselves and immediately fixed a date.
Time flew by and finally the day had come! We just came back home from school
when Silvia and her photographer Andrew showed up.
We nestled in the kitchen and came down to business with a cool glass of
juice. Silvia asked her questions and we started to talk: About the
formation of
the band, the concerts, our music and and and ... We had lots of fun
with Andrew and Silvia as both of them were really funny chaps :)
Moments later we found ourselves looking for a fitting background for the
pics. Andrew had a super pro camera and shot excellent pics
in our rehearsal room, on the stage and on the fields behind our house.
Last but not least our camping bus which parked in our backyard was
turned into a "tour bus" ;).
So Andrew snapped and snapped ... and we had lots of jokes going on. While we
were
posing on the field (see double page) our neighbors claimed that we shouldn't only
take pictures but also play some music! After he had everything "in the
box" Andrew and Silvia headed for their next appointment - leaving us
behind, waiting in suspense
for the issuance of the journal ...
And now we hold it in our hands! It's a funny feeling to be in the newspaper
for the first time, and we are as happy as sandboys!

That's how the double page looks like. To read
the text just click on the image. Then the PDF opens on the "City
& Life" website. Unfortunately it's only available in German - sorry! Picture © Andrew Rinkhy |

The icing on the cake is the online-article on the "City & Life" website which you can see on the left side.
Sorry, it's only German - but the title says something like "MonaLisa
and Band - a different type of family".
If we have time we sometimes also write blogs (little articles) on the "City &
Life" website.
It`s worth it:

Best wishes,
Mona and Lisa
