Guitar Concert 2008 Polgar High

Thursday, 5 June 2008

And the story goes on ... Good to have you here again!

Only one day after the drums-/school band concert the already mentioned guitar concert took place at the assembly hall of our school.

As an attentive reader of our News/Chronicle you certainly know already our guitar teacher Mr. Pochendorfer. Together with another teacher he organized this year's concert very well again.

Do you still remember? Last year the guitar concert was something completely new for me (Mona). It was the first time that I was on stage with a bass as I was so terribly nervous! But especially last year we had a lot of concerts and gigs including our big Monalisa & Band Live Concert. Since then I had learned a lot on the guitar and so I was a great deal relaxter. Although - there's always a little tension. But I think that's good for concentration and taking it seriously!

We gave two songs this year: "Stairway to heaven" by Led Zeppelin and "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles. The latter one we four girls from the guitar group, Simona, Julie, Lisa and I, also sang along with.

We created a pretty unusual version of "Stairway to heaven":
We performed it on guitars only, without singing. Simona and Tobi (also called "Santana-Boy" ;) played the chords while the others did the vocal- and flute melody in "two voices" on their guitars. That resulted in a wonderfully hamonizing sound! Mr. Pochendorfer had written it extra for us. Thank you, it was great!

Except a few little goofs both songs worked pretty well. But the feeling of the songs catched the audience anyway. People liked it and we all had a lot of fun!

I always like school concerts and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Write ya!
