Guitar Concert 2007 at Polgar High

Tuesday, 15 May 2007

This year's guitar concert wasn't far anymore. I (Mona) had been learning guitar for my first year, and of course it was totally exciting for both of us. Mr. Pochendorfer, our guitar teacher, prepared one or two songs with each of his guitar groups.

In our group we were Lisa, Alex, Julie, Toby and I. While all other pupils already had been learning the third year, I joined them as the beginner "chick". But I bravely decided to perform the guitar piece (composed by our teacher) with them.

Lisa had already played some guitar songs at former concerts, but for me it was something completely new. It was the first time playing a string instrument on stage. So I took the bass part, as it was easier to play.

Lisa on her guitar, Mona playing the e-bass.
With the big e-bass I am playing in full lighting, to my left is Lisa with her guitar "Candy", to my right the other pupils.

I was deeply proud of myself standing on stage with this huge e-bass, accompanying the others. At least that was my firts guitar/bass performance.

You can imagine, how jittery we were! Also Lisa felt quite insecure on stage, as her stage experience also wasn't that big yet.

Actually the song passed off rather fluently. Only Lisa wasn't so satisfied with her solo part. Besides she sometimes nearly dropped her plectrum (the guitar pick), because excitement let her sweat so much. J As I played my bass without pick it couldn't happen to me - Thank God! ;)

All in all our performance was not bad and the experience itself we gain with every concert will help us at the next!
