> Christmas Concert 2007 Polgar Highschool School Christmas Concert 2007Wednesday, 19 December 2007
The annual Christmas Concert of Polgar Highschool was great again (like every year). In comparison to previous years they made some changes. This year there weren't that many performances in order to shorten the program (but it still took two hours). Furthermore the school band was allowed to play in the main part. Till now they always had been the "taillight" and therefore had been confronted with playing in front of a half-empty hall yet.
This year there were very good performances of the school band, the
drums and guitar groups and the school choir. At the end of the
concert even some teachers, administrators and members of the partent's
association and the school board sang a song together - very funny!
Like every year we sang some songs, basically a bunch more than in the last years. First we played in the traditional opening song Little Drummer Boy (drum version). Lisa was allowed to sing two Christmas songs, composed by our drum teacher, Mr. Goehr: Über den Dächern der Stadt (means: "Above the city's roofs") and Darum wünsch' i ma (means: "That's why I wish ..."). In the second song I played the bass. Together with our best friend Lina and a guy of the graduating class we sang a Samba named Mafrimka. With Lina we also were allowed to sing Travelling Soldier (The Dixie Chicks) - its chorus we sang in three voices. We got accompanied by our drum teacher Mr. Goehr and some girls of the drum group.
Oh well, and we also sang Dreamer, another composition by our
drum teacher. Judging by the reactions of the audience we performed our
songs quite well and we had lots of fun with it.
But now there comes the best: We were allowed to present our own CD!!! Two weeks prior to the Christmas Concert our guitar teacher Mr. Pochendorfer offered us to present our Live-CD to the audience. Of course that was a perfect chance to bring our CD out to the public. After all there were about 200 to 300 people listening. We thought about which songs we should play. Three songs were planned, so we decided to play Michelle, Alone and Aufsteh'n (means: "Get up"). These links will get you the versions of our Live-CD. We practiced a lot and for the concert we took our headset-microphones and some of our CDs. We were rather nervous, but that disappeared while performing. These three songs put the audience in quite good humor, especially the song Aufsteh'n (means: "Get up") J. Some people also bought our CDs during the pause! --- Thank you! Some of you might wonder, how we could play the songs without our band. But except Michelle we didn't have to re-arrange the songs, as we anyway performed them as a duo at our concerts. Singing Michelle we just cut out the bass and choir - we only sang to our guitars' sound.
