This song was one of the first I had learned to play on the guitar.
For Christmas 2004 I got my first guitar. It came with a didactic CD, a book and a guitar case. Among other songs there was House of the rising sun on that CD. I had a look at it and tried to play.
When it was about chosing songs to play at our concert we decided to take this one. It is a rather long one with 6 verses and some interludes of keyboard and saxophone. Our Dad again wrote a solo for Michaela which sounded very good. Since she just played the sax for about half a year she had to work hard on that part. But she played it very well.
Also our Dad had a lot to do with his keyboard. To imitate the
Hammond organ of the original song is quite a challenge. We find
that he performed great and we are very proud of him.
