In 1963 the Beatles published an LP which they simply named
"With the Beatles". The third track on the A-side
was
All my lovin' which originally was written as a poem by Paul
McCartney (reportedly while he was shaving).
Basically McCartney composed this song as a Country & Western song. All my loving also was the opening song at their first big performance in the US, namely in the Ed-Sullivan-Show on 9 Februar 1964.
On 8 December 1980, around 11 pm, this song was played over the loudspeakers of the Roosevelt Hospital's emergency department when John Lennon was taken to hospital after he was attacked. At least Alan Weiss, a TV producer (who happened to be present there) reported that.
Paul McCartney played Bass and
sang the Lead-Vocals.
John Lennon played the Rhythm-Guitar and sang Background-Voice.
George Harrison played the Lead-Guitar and sang Background-Voice.
Ringo Starr was on the Drums.
At live performances George Harrison and Paul McCartney sang as a duo, but in the studio version both parts were sung by McCartney.
Another famous performance of this song took place on the 23 August 1964 at the Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl. The Beatles had been one of the first bands who rang in the end of the strictly classical era of the Hollywood Bowl. It's just amazing which enthusiasm and partially even hysteria the Beatles had created with their music worldwide.
