The Troggs are a south-english rock band.
They're still active but had their most successful time in the
60ies. With their mostly simple but aggressive songs they beated the
punk-rock to the punch. Who doesn't know their hits Wild Thing, With a girl like you or I can’t
control myself?
With Love Is All around and Night of the Long Grass they temporarily turned towards the psychedelic music which was very hip in 1967. The song was composed by Reg Presley and published as a single in 1968. It hit the top 10 of the US single charts. The Trogg's version features a violin quartet as well as a tick-tock-sound on the percussions.
Love is all around got covered by many artists, e.g. by REM or the scottish band "Wet Wet Wet" who recorded the song for the movie "Four weddings and a funeral " in 1994. Their version had been number 1 in the UK for 15 weeks! The original of the Troggs was used in the movie "Get real" in 1998.
