MonaLisa and the Band

We are two meanwhile 14 year old girls whose names truly are Mona and Lisa and who are real twins (no fake!) We chose our names as band name. Just attach "twins.com" and you will find our website in the search engines easily (in case we are not in your favourite's list already ;). However, we are making music, alone, as a duo, together with our band, or with other kids, or ...

It all started with our Daddy once having operated a well known recording studio and us having had contact to music and other musicians since our earliest childhood. At that time of course we didn't know that we had so many famous artists singing and playing in our studio. So dancing and singing was natural for us and as sisters we always had our fun. There was no car drive without us singing loudly or imitating instruments in the back. Well, actually it's still the same today ;)

In the chapter MonaLisa & Band we will tell you how it has come to the formation of our band at the beginning of 2007 (with "band" we mean our family band). Since then our "making music" reached a completely new dimension. Our parents both decided to learn new instruments so that we could play as a foursome. At the time of our 1st Live-Concert Michaela (our step-mommy) played the saxophone for half a year and our Daddy played the bass and guitar for about one year. And so we more and more grew to a real band.

And that's us on our self-made stage: Daddy on the bass, Lisa on the guitar, Mona on the drums and Michaela on the sax.

There were two things that gave us an enormous shot in the arm.

The first thing was that we set ourselves a date for our first own concert. It's right that we had already played at school-concerts and for our families, but this one should become a real long concert with over 20 songs and for which people would only come to see us. Needless to say that we were very excited and accordingly practiced very hard.

Secondly there were our summer holidays in Los Angeles. In summer 2007 we visited Hollywood/LA where we had a wonderful time at Disneyland, Sea World and the Universal Studios. The one week trip to Death Valley, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon was an awesome experience too. But besides that we met some great musicians there and also got some music lessons at the Hollywood Music Academy (Melrose Ave). At a café on Newport Beach we got known to a very nice guitar advocate who gave us some lessons too. His name was (it still is) jOHn. He gave us the advice to perform in so called "Open Microphones" to get a little practice in playing publicly. And that's what we did! You can't imagine how excited we were! But the second time the fun exceeded our stage fright, thanks to the many nice Californian people! Here are our impressions from the first evening at "Sol Grill", Newport Beach.

Back from our USA vacation we continued practicing for our concert. It was such an enormous success that we gave a second concert a week later. We were very lucky that our Dad is so knowledgeable in producing music and also had all the necessary technical equipment. For that reason we could produce a Live-CD out of the two concerts for the very delightment of our concert and website visitors.

As a consequence we played many further gigs at our school and for the music school. In the meantime we have been to California a second time (2008) where we played many live gigs and shooted three cool California music videos.
