What kind of music we play?

For those who can't wait: Take a direct jump to our audio-clips!

If you love “real music” pop classics from the 60ies till today and strong, well tuned polyphone vocals, imagine how two “music-mad” twin-teens and their 4 head family band would cover them straight from the heart, with the aspiration to leave them as original and pure as possible – you’ll have MonaLisa & Band Live in Concert 2007!

As you probably know, we are still covering the greater part of our songs. On the one side we do that because we first want to learn playing all the different music styles with their typical characteristics, and secondly we play the songs we like.

If we are covering songs we try to cover them as true to the original as possible. This way we learn to reproduce and create the fineness and originalties of the various styles on our instruments.

Thereby our repertoire is quite diverse and many music styles are represented (for the delight of our audience). That's what we do: We choose a music genre and then pick out the "real classics". Then we start to study the song - with all difficulties and specialties the original brings along. We practice and practice till we are able to play also the fiddly parts of the song. If possible we don't simplify.

Mona Lisa and Band Live in Concert Franzensdorf 2007 - a musical Journey from 1963 to 2007

Till now we chose songs that have touched us somehow. (Do read the information about the MonaLisa-Version of the songs on Songs & Lyrics!) With these songs we created a musical journey from 1963 to 2007. For listening to our audio clips go to the page CDs or see the end of this page.

At the last concert the audience loved our song selection. Many visitors confirmed that. And in fact there have been people aged from 4 to 90 years attending our show. The elderly people got some modern songs to listen, and our girl friends and class mates really raved themselves hoarse on the Beatles (which surprised us very much). Well, music unites!

Regarding music the Beatles are our big example. As to music they have achieved anything possible! We have to admit - the songs we are playing are definitely oldies for us and our teeny friends. But people still like oldies so much because they are most of the time (not always) high quality music. And in addition they cover many popular music styles like Blues, Funk, Soul, Reggae or Hip-Hop.

Everyone of us likes music that addresses us somehow, that makes us laugh, cry or think. Exactly such songs we want to write some day. Our song writing career started with our first composition Alone, an emotional ballad. But before we completely take up composing we will stick to covering popular songs for some time.

On the next CD/Concert we are going to venture on some other music styles and cover different artists. The more we learn about music the better our future compositions will get. After all we want to write good songs, no trivial stuff.

We cannot tell yet in which direction our music will develop in the future. We like many things and most likely we won't tie ourselves down to one special branch of music.

Who knows, perhaps we will create something completely new?! But there's a long way to go ...

Have fun!
