About the Video

It was the last song on our debut album "When We're Together" and also the last clip in the corresponding video series. And we went the extra mile to make it a worthy final highlight of the whole project. In fact, we went a few THOUSAND extra miles when we travelled to outer space to shoot the footage.

We've been working on the "Nothing Is In Vain" video for over a year, collecting and shooting footage in-between other projects. We shot scenes underwater and on the trampoline, and you'll see planets explode and giant goldfish swim through the universe. So the video for this tune is "out of this world", so to speak, and the visual atmosphere enhances the psychedelic feeling of the song, turning it into the most surreal video clip we've done so far.

We learned a great deal by working on the special effects, and of course flying through space was an extraterrestrial experience as well ;) Again we did everything from planning, to filming, to cutting, to special effects together with our parents and, in that case, also grandparents who let us film the underwater scenes in their swimming pool.

Since the video release in October 2014 we had many people comparing it to the likes of "Space Odyssey 2001" or the James Bond opening sequence of "Moonraker". While we've never heard of the latter before we indeed were inspired by Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, which we admire for its special effects he created back in the 60s when CGI (computer-generated imagery) wasn't invented yet. Our means were quite limited as well but with billions in the pocket anybody can do.

Enjoy your psychedelic trip through space - completely without drugs, just music - and also watch the behind-the-scenes clip to learn more about our "space odyssey" and the two gold fish named Mona and Lisa. Get inspired, and remember: Nothing is in vain!

When We're Together Album Cover Nothing Is In Vain

There is sunshine
There is sunshine
There is sunshine
There's sunshine after rain

There is pleasure
There is pleasure
There is pleasure
There's pleasure after pain

No, I can't complain
There's no one here to blame
We'll never be the same
'Cause nothing,
Nothing is in vain

There's sunshine after rain

Can you tell me
Can you tell me
Can you tell me
Can you tell me where to go

Did you ever
Oh did you ever
Did you ever
Did you ever wanna know

No, no, I can't complain
There's no one here to blame
We'll never be the same
'Cause nothing, nothing
Nothing is in vain

There is pleasure after pain
There is sunshine after rain

We are going
We are going
We are going
We're going down the drain

Is there something
Oh is there something
Is there something
There's something to explain

No, oh no no,
No, no, I can't complain
There's no one here, there's no on here to blame
We'll never be, we'll never be the same
'Cause nothing, oh nothing
Nothing, nothing, nothing is in vain

There is sunshine after rain
There is pleasure after pain
There's pleasure after pain

There is sunshine after rain
There is sunshine after rain

There is sunshine, There is sunshine
There is pleasure, There is sunshine
There is sunshine, There is sunshine
There's sunshine after rain
There's pleasure, There is pleasure
There's pleasure, There is pleasure
There's pleasure, There is pleasure
Uhh, There's pleasure after pain

No, no, no, I can't complain
There's no one here, there's no on here to blame
We'll never be the same
'Cause nothing,
oh nothing is in vain

About Video Quality
We used the highest resolution (1920 x 1080 – full HD quality) and the most effective codec currently
available, H.264-Pro, to give you the best quality within a reasonable file size. It can get played back
on almost any modern computer, smartphone or tablet-PC. As you might know there is always a trade-off between file size and sound quality when it comes to file compression. We decided to go for quality rather than for file size because modern computers and other devices usually have more than enough space for video files.

Our File Formats
At last we decided to provide our videos in 2 different sizes:
1. The big file will play on any PC or Apple computer and on most modern smartphones. The
resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD Quality) for big computer- or TV screens.
2. The small one is for older computers, tablet PCs or smartphones or if you play the video on small screens. It has a resolution of 854 x 480, is much more portable and takes much less space than the big one.

Recommended Player
We recommend the VLC Media Player (free) to play the videos. It is available for almost any operating system under the sun and plays almost any video file possible: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/#download
You can of course also use the Windows Media Player or whatever you like best.

Format Conversion
If, for some reason, you need a different format, you can either write us or use a program to convert it (just put “ needed format -converter” in your search engine). There are a lot of free programs that will do the job nicely. However, when you convert you should prefer the big file as source file because it is technically better in any aspect.

About Audio Quality
We did extensive listening tests to choose file formats that come very close to CD quality and can get played back on almost any device like your computer, your smart phone, your iPad or your MP3 player. As you might know there is always a trade-off between file size and sound quality when it comes to file compression. We decided to go for quality rather than for file size because modern computers and other devices usually have more than enough space for audio files.

Our File Formats

At last we decided to provide our music in 2 different formats: MP3 (128 kbit/s) and M4A (256 kbit/s)
For those who don’t know, you recognize the file by its ending, the abbreviation after the “.” of the file title. (e.g. title.mp3, title.m4a)
MP3 is the most common audio file. It will work on any MP3 player, iPod, computer and most mobile phones.
M4A is the typical iTunes (Apple) format, which means it works great for iPods and the iTunes players on your computer. We chose the new “iTunes+ (plus)” quality.

In both formats we could hardly hear any difference to the original master but the M4A is technically better. The MP3 format on the other hand is the most compatible and also very close to the original quality.

Format Conversion

If, for some reason, you need a different format, you can either write us or use a program to convert it (just put “ needed format -converter” in your search engine). There are a lot of free programs that will do the job nicely. However, when you convert you should prefer the M4A file as source file because it is technically better and also has a higher streaming rate than the MP3.

As long as you’re using regular equipment and operating systems you should be fine with those two formats. If you are working on an Apple computer or use iTunes as your audio player though we would generally suggest you to use the M4A files.
